I do realize that my boat hull is going to get some marks over the course of time. I can't do a 4 point tie off based on our docking arrangement. Is there a brand of bumper out there that someone uses which is far better than Dockmate(s)? Has anyone put a fleece sleeve over the bumper(s) to see if that helps? I have looked at how they have tied up to see if they are doing something different than I am and truthfully they are not. Am I the only one with a dark hulled 190 / 192 with this problem? There are other boats that have dark hulls tied up where I'm at using cheap as hell bumpers that are hard and there is not a scratch on their hulls. I used the 3M system to buff out the marks and it worked really well.įor this upcoming season here up North, I'd like to come up with a solution that will keep my boat hull marks to minimum. I also have been very vigilant to ensure tension on ropes to cleats is appropriate and have even experimented with tension adjustments at various times to see if I make things better using this approach. I have changed my spot on the dock and the orientation of my boat in relation to the waves to see if it would make a difference. First set was white (big mistake) for leaving whitish marks on hull however, second set I bought black (super soft) Dockmate bumpers and the same thing is happening- just to a lesser degree than the white ones. Both have been good quality and super soft.
